“and everything that exists is love/nothingness”, 2021, neon sign, courtesy of the artist

The sign is a quote from a text written more than 10 years ago by the artist’s son, Antoni, then nine years old. Lit up, it plays with the meanings of nothingness and love; the two words intermingle visually, causing the beholder to reflect on their relationship. and everything that exists is love becomes a prefiguration of a better world, a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Score for Animal Voices, 2014, sound installation, courtesy of the artist

Score for Animal Voices is a multi-level project based on the idea of cross-discipline collaboration that has had numerous iterations. In Zielona Góra, it is played back through loudspeakers as a musical performance recording in the plaza in front of the Zielona Góra Philharmonic. Working with composer Marcin Gumiela, Jabłońska attempted to transpose the sounds made by animals living in the Bydgoszcz Zoo into the language of contemporary musical notation. The composition was performed by members of the Academic Choir of the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology under the direction of Agnieszka Sowa. The recorded growling, snorting, hissing, squeaking, and howling became a basis for the musicians to work on. The sounds were recorded in a manner that did not disturb the animals.
