Fuczko returns to folk culture, a culture dependent on and connected with the rhythm and cycles of nature. Finding inspiration in early music, she analyzes traditional Lemko, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Serbian songs to discover emotional stories communicating folk wisdoms or warnings. She then transposes the lyrics to black-and-white paintings, performing their authorial interpretation. Fuczko’s works draw upon the myth of the simplicity of old life, the need to return to one’s roots.
