Progress vs. Regress, 2016, full HD movie, 53’5’’, courtesy of the artist and AKINCI gallery, Amsterdam This experimental document was created in collaboration with a group of Dutch seniors and seniors. The artist asked about changes in their lives related to the development of technology. She confronted personal testimonies of attempts to understand the new reality with members of the young generation, a generation deeply immersed in the virtual world and augmented reality. The work poses questions about the possibility of conducting intergenerational dialogue, the future of seniors and senior care in the digital revolution era. The video’s formal structure with superimposed notification sounds, emoticons, animations, and computer-generated images is designed to mimic the experience of constant readiness to consume and broadcast endless digital content.
